#4 UVa. baseball evens series at Georgia Tech

Scott Silverstein (R-Sr., Olney, Md) allowed a run and two hits over seven strong innings as the fourth-ranked Virginia baseball team cruised to a 7-2 victory at No. 17 Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta. Silverstein (6-0) struck out nine and walked two in tying his career-long effort as UVa. (31-5, 13-4 ACC) evened the series at a game apiece.

The Reconvened Session of the General Assembly that met last week concluded work for this year on the most significant funding program for transportation infrastructure approved by the legislature since the historic special session in 1986.The bill that had previously passed the legislature in the 2013 Regular Session was sent to the Governor for his approval and signature. He proposed a series of amendments that were voted on last Wednesday and approved by the House and the Senate.The Governor will now sign the bill into law.

Gov. Bob McDonnell to host Business Plan Challenge

Gov. Bob McDonnell today announced that he will host the Governor’s Business Plan Challenge in Richmond May 2, 2013. In recognition of Virginia’s strong entrepreneurial environment, the statewide challenge will spotlight the best business plans or concepts crafted by undergraduate students this year. Public and private Virginia colleges and universities are invited to send their top presenters to Richmond for the Governor’s Business Plan Challenge.
