The University of Richmond’s Athletic Department has announced that Panasonic will provide new video boards as part of the current $17 million Robins Center renovation project. Once installed, the displays will be the largest of any Atlantic 10 arena and will also be one of the largest displays of any on-campus arena in the ACC or Big East.

Gov. Bob McDonnell today announced three judicial appointments to fill vacant circuit court positions that were not filled during the 2013 General Assembly session. Robert R. Sandwich, Jr., will fill the 5th Judicial Circuit, Stephen E. Sincavage will serve in the 20th Judicial Circuit, and Charles L. Ricketts, III, will serve in the 25th Judicial Circuit.

Today Ralph Northam’s campaign for lieutenant governor announced that State Sen. Donald McEachin (D-Henrico) will serve as the campaign’s chairman. McEachin is the chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and was an early endorser of Northam’s candidacy.

Planning for the third annual Hope for Homes benefit is underway for the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity. The date for the 2014 Gala has been set for January 25, 2014 and will be held in the Shenandoah Ballroom of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton. The benefit will join community leaders, benefactors, sponsors and philanthropists in an evening to raise funds and awareness of the local Habitat for Humanity program.

Aaron Baker blasted two three-run home runs as the Bowie Baysox (44-45) won going away, 10-1, over the Richmond Flying Squirrels (42-48) at Prince George’s Stadium on Thursday night. The Squirrels sunk to a season-worst six games under .500 with the loss in the series opener.

Virginia senior offensive tackle Morgan Moses has been named to the prestigious 2013 Outland Trophy Watch List, an award that goes to the best interior lineman in college football, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Moses makes the watch list for the second season in a row.
