Firehouse Subs grant aids Augusta County Fire-Rescue

Augusta County Fire-Rescue received a fire extinguisher training system worth $15,573 with the assistance of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The awarded training system will allow firefighters to train the community on the safe and proper use of fire extinguishers through hands-on instruction and demonstrations.

The Staunton Fire & Rescue Department was recently presented with a Life Safety Achievement Award for its fire prevention accomplishments in 2014 by the National Association of State Fire Marshals Fire Research and Education Foundation in partnership with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co.

Firearms gallery at Virginia Historical Society to be named For Cecil R. Hopkins

The Virginia Historical Society announced that its new firearms gallery will be named the Cecil R. Hopkins Gallery, in recognition of a major grant from the Cecil R. and Edna S. Hopkins Family Foundation and in memory of Mr. Hopkins, who established Green Top Sporting Goods in Hanover County, Virginia, in 1947.
