With President Obama being re-elected, now is the time for the President and Congress to get back to work. The 2012 campaigns have ended and now it is time to stop the name calling, bickering and double talk and instead to work together to solve problems that our country faces.

Marine Corp veteran Dave Graf was laid off from his job in 2009, shortly after returning from two tours of duty in Iraq as a helicopter maintainer and gunner. He then decided to use his G.I. Bill benefits and enroll in Blue Ridge Community College where he earned a total of four postsecondary credentials in aviation and automotive maintenance, including two associate’s degrees – all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced this week that the 2011 total economic impact of the film and television industry in Virginia was $394.4 million, a 14.5 percent increase over 2010. In addition, 3,817 jobs were attributed to the film industry in 2011, up from 2,651 jobs in 2010.

The United Way of Greater Augusta will be holding a Veterans Resource Fair in collaboration with the Staunton Veteran’s Day Parade, Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church located at the corner of North Lewis Street and West Beverley Street in Staunton.

Volunteers from Dominion Virginia Power are helping to build a greenhouse for Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center. The greenhouse will help students with disabilities at the Center learn about appropriate work behaviors and will introduce them to a possible career option. The greenhouse is being provided by the WWRC Foundation, but required assembly.

Gasoline prices continue to stabilize in the Northeast, following an unusual autumn spike over the past two weeks.

While there are some signs of relief for motorists, as gas prices have fallen for 19 of 21 days (nationally), price relief has not spread evenly across the country, where the exception has been in the Northeast and West Coast where extremely tight supplies have seen prices move dramatically higher.
