House Democrats offer critical statements on General Assembly session

With the 2015 legislative session coming to a close, the House Democratic Caucus released the following statements pointing out while the House of Delegates made positive accomplishments towards building a new Virginia economy, the Republican Caucus hid many of their legislative actions under the table and away from Virginia voters, rather than focus on many kitchen table issues Virginians care about.

A witty sign showing up at climate rallies proclaims: “Save the Earth – It’s the only planet with chocolate!”, and for good reason. The severe weather, extreme temperatures and irregular rainfall associated with global warming is more pronounced in the tropical regions where cocoa is cultivated from West Africa to Indonesia to South and Central America.

Thomas Skalak, vice president for research at the University of Virginia, has been named the inaugural executive director for science and technology programs at the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation in Seattle, officials announced Monday. The appointment is effective Feb. 1.
