Mazeika adds pop to middle of the lineup for Generals

Patrick Mazeika drove eight hours from the Cape on Friday to make his first start of the season for Waynesboro Friday night. The arrival of the 6’3”, 210-pounder couldn’t come at a better time for the Generals, who have struggled mightily at the three spots in the lineup that Mazeika is likely to split time at – first base, catcher and designated hitter.

Young ballplayer wins WSVA First Pitch Contest

Evan Sites isn’t worried that he might throw one out of the strike zone. The crowd will be bigger than he’s used to playing in front of in his Little League games, but still, Sites, 9, is a pitcher. “Not really at all,” Sites told WSVA-550AM “Late Afternoons” host Mike Schikman on Thursday. On Sunday, before the WSVA Waynesboro Generals Game of the Week, Sites will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Winner takes all at Gateway talent finale

Audiences at WTA’s Gateway on Saturday, June 29, will listen to the winners from the last six Gateway Talent Nights and crown the winner in the grand finale. Hosted by Lorie Strother, the Dreaded Blues Lady, the performance will feature eight performers who were selected by Gateway audiences as the best performers in the monthly Talent Nights. The winner of the final round will receive a cash prize, a professional video and a paid gig at WTA’s Gateway in the Fall.
