D.J. King should have been at a loss for words. His Waynesboro Generals team, which had played so well down the stretch, winning nine in a row at one point, going 16-5 just to get to Game 3 of the Jim Lineweaver Cup with a shot to clinch the Valley League championship at home, seemed to be falling apart in front of his very eyes.

A Mike Marcinko walkoff single gives the Waynesboro Generals a dramatic 7-6 come-from-behind win over the Charles Town Cannons in Game 3 of the Valley League championship series, bringing the Jim Lineweaver Cup back to Waynesboro for the second consecutive year, and setting off a wild celebration at Linco Park at Kate Collins Field.

Mike Marcinko hit a 1-0 pitch down the left-field line to knock in pinch-runner Dan Neff with two outs in the ninth inning, completing a Waynesboro Generals rally to a 7-6 win over the Charles Town Cannons in the deciding Game 3 of the Valley League championship series.

Waynesboro YMCA SMAC Swim Team competes at YMCA Nationals

The Waynesboro YMCA Swim Team (SMAC) competed at the YMCA Long Course Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana from July 28-Aug. 1. Long course meets are swum in 50 meter pools – the same size that is used in the Olympics. SMAC was one of 193 Y swim teams competing in the National Meet. SMAC had it strongest showing in history scoring 82 total points and placing 22nd overall.
