As the River City Radio Hour nears the end of this 2014-15 season, it packs the May performance with talent. Jazz chanteuse Nadine Chase, country singer Brian Buchanan, poet/composer David Young (aka Duffy), humorist Marsha Howard, the renown Boogie Kings, and a new serial Ladies of the Library will be combined in a 90-minute performance.

After tallying more than 200 contributions from donors throughout the Shenandoah Valley, the Heifetz International Music Institute today announced the successful conclusion of its “Shenandoah Scholarship Campaign,” an unprecedented dollar-for-dollar $100,000 matching-grant challenge designed to bring some of world’s most talented young musicians to study at the acclaimed Institute regardless of their ability to pay.

The November River City Radio Hour will premiere a new serial Tales from Rose Hall. The four-part serial traces the role a celebrated home played in Waynesboro’s participation in the Civil War.

The Heifetz on Tour concert series kicking off this week will feature violinist and Charlottesville native Madison Vest and cellist Zach Mowitz.

The September River City Radio Hour regulars Boogie Kings and the First Lady of Comedy, Marsha Howard will be joined by John-Robert Rimel, a country-singer phenomenon, and the Amazing Man of Magic, Peter Monticup.

One of the Valley’s longest running productions completes its seventh season on June 20 when the River City Radio Hour takes it final bow at WTA’s Gateway.

Formerly known as the Smith Family Band, the Ash Breeze Band is led by father Allen and consists of daughter and powerhouse singer Nellie, 15, and three sons, Corey, 17, Luke, 13, and Eli, 11.

The popular musical group Gabby Haze returns to WTA’s Gateway on Saturday, April 5 with their mix of musical genres. After their first appearance in December of 2011, the fans keep asking for them to return.
