FLW College Fishing is headed to Smith Mountain Lake May 3 for the first Northern Conference tournament of 2014. Fifty college teams will be competing for a top award of $2,000 and a berth in the Northern Conference Invitational tournament.

Organizers have announced the full lineup of artists that will perform at the second annual event at Natural Chimneys Park in Mount Solon on July 11, 12 and 13. The festival is again hosted by The Steel Wheels and presented by WNRN and Blue Mountain Brewery.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced today that more than $750,000 in matching grant funds will be awarded to 42 local tourism initiatives as part of Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (VTC) Marketing Leverage Grant program. The grants are designed to help local and regional tourism entities attract more visitors by leveraging local marketing dollars.
