Gov. Bob McDonnell today announced three judicial appointments to fill vacant circuit court positions that were not filled during the 2013 General Assembly session. Robert R. Sandwich, Jr., will fill the 5th Judicial Circuit, Stephen E. Sincavage will serve in the 20th Judicial Circuit, and Charles L. Ricketts, III, will serve in the 25th Judicial Circuit.

2013 Governor’s Challenge champions in economics and personal finance

Preliminary online rounds attracted 2,172 high school students from across Virginia, with 160 students qualifying for the day-long championship competition at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) on April 17 where the following teams prevailed:

Throughout the 2013 General Assembly Session, nearly 60 transportation and business groups representing a diverse cross section of industries and associations in all parts of the Commonwealth endorsed Gov. Bob McDonnell’s Virginia’s Road to the Future transportation funding and reform plan. The organizations listed below have now endorsed the governor’s amendments to make the legislation easier to implement and to address legal concerns about the bill and are urging the General Assembly to move the amended legislation forward.

Bolling backs proposed expansion of Virginia Medicaid program

Bill Bolling issued a comprehensive letter to legislative leaders outlining his support for moving forward with the proposed expansion of Virginia’s Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act, subject to the ability of the Commonwealth to negotiate acceptable waivers from the federal government to effectively reform Medicaid.

Bob McDonnell’s comprehensive, long term transportation funding proposal, “Virginia’s Road to the Future,” would provide the Virginia Department of Transportation with approximately $1.28 billion in new state funding that could be used for 158 highway projects providing a significant investment in improving interstate pavement, secondary system bridges, mass-transit, unpaved roads and other high priority projects.
