Motorists on Interstate 81 northbound in Shenandoah County can expect overnight lane and ramp closures over the next week. All of these closures are due to milling and paving between mile markers 265 and 274, as part of a pavement rehabilitation project.

As part of the Interstate 81 pavement rehabilitation project in Shenandoah County, milling and paving continues between mile markers 264 and 274 northbound.

The northbound on-ramp to Interstate 81 at Exit 264 (New Market) in Shenandoah County will be closed overnight for milling and paving.

On Sunday morning, August 24, motorists should be alert for slow-roll lane closures on portions of Interstate 81 and Interstate 64 in the Lexington and Timber Ridge area of Rockbridge County.

Interstate 81 northbound will have a detour tonight (July 30) as part of operations to clear a tractor trailer accident from earlier today. This location is near Lexington in Rockbridge County.

Repairs to the bridge carrying eastbound I-64 over Route 29 (Monacan Trail) in Charlottesville will affect traffic at exit 118B next week.

This week and next, a contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation will replace a pipe that runs under Route 29 (Monacan Trail) approximately one mile south of Interstate 64 in Albemarle County.

Both southbound lanes of Interstate 81 have reopened in Augusta County. Shortly after 3 p.m., Virginia State Police led traffic on a “slow roll” from exit 220, where vehicles had been detoured since this morning’s tractor trailer accident.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has extended the closure of a portion of Interstate 64 to March 20 and 21 for bridge work between mile markers 89 and 93 in the Fishersville area of Augusta County. All work is weather permitting.
