Interstate 81 slow roll closures in Augusta County early Sunday

Motorists should be alert for northbound and southbound slow-roll lane closures Sunday morning, May 17, along Interstate 81 in Augusta County.

This operation will allow crews to install overhead utility lines crossing I-81 at mile marker 217 in the Greenville/Mint Springs area. Traffic will be controlled with a northbound slow-roll beginning at mile marker 211.  The southbound slow-roll will start at mile marker 219. During the operation flagging crews will control southbound interstate access at the on-ramps at exit 217.

The slow roll is scheduled to take place between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. and should require 15 minutes or less to complete. The operation will utilize Virginia State Police and variable message boards. All work is weather permitting, and slow-roll times are subject to change.
