New traffic patterns went into effect early this morning on Route 29 near Rio Road in Albemarle County. Two median crossovers were closed and two temporary signals were activated to accommodate construction activities on the Rio Road grade-separated intersection project.

Two years ago, the NCAA passed a new rule allowing teams to begin basketball practice 42 days before their season opener. For UVA basketball, that would mean an Oct. 2 first practice, basically four weeks from yesterday.
