A Wythe County Sheriff’s Department deputy was injured this afternoon in a crash with a tractor trailer on Interstate 77. The crash occurred at 2:17 p.m. at the 43-mile marker.

The deputy, Jack Hudson, was conducting a traffic stop on I-77 and attempting to move from the left to the right shoulder of the interstate when his vehicle was allegedly struck by a southbound tractor trailer on the rear passenger side.

Hudson received non-life-threatening injuries from the accident. He was transported to a community hospital for treatment.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Ronald Kenyon, of Richland Hills, Texas, was not injured.  Kenyon was charged with reckless driving.
