WSLS launching new 7 p.m. weeknight newscast

AFP

WSLS10 in Roanoke announces a new 7 p.m. weekday newscast to begin airing Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 with new anchor Meagan Farley as host.

Farley comes to Roanoke from Topeka Kansas where she anchored evening newscasts for KSNT. Prior to Topeka, she contributed to “World News Now” for ABC News in New York.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have found a home in Southwest Virginia and found a spot on the best news team in the region” said Farley.

“We’re thrilled to offer SW Virginia viewers a new kind of newscast at 7pm.” Said WSLS Vice President and General Manager Warren Fiihr. “And, we think Meagan is the perfect fit for the WSLS 10 team.”

“Meagan’s a great find. She’s perfect for delivering a new concept in a newscast, at a more convenient time”, said WSLS News Director Melissa Preas. “We look forward to breaking new ground in presenting local news”.

WSLS 10’s News at 7 o’clock will follow “NBC Nightly News” each weekday evening. Inside Edition will move to weeknights at 7:30 p.m., immediately following the 7 o’clock newscast.
