route 29Lane-Corman Joint Venture, the contractor building the Route 29 improvement projects, will continue work for part of the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.

Construction crews will work on the Route 29-Rio Road grade-separated intersection from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday. Work will be suspended for the remainder of the holiday weekend.

During the work overnight Friday and early Saturday morning motorists will encounter multiple lane closures on Route 29 north and south of the intersection and the Rio Road crossover will be closed to traffic. The speed limit through the project work zone is 35 mph at all times.

The Rio Road grade-separated intersection is one of eight projects in the Route 29 Solutions improvement package to improve safety and increase mobility along the Route 29 corridor in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Information about upcoming lane closures and other traffic impacts, as well as news about the projects, is posted on the Route 29 Solutions web site on the News and Traffic Alerts page.
