Tough start to the 2026 season for #12 Virginia, which dropped to 0-3 on the campaign with a 17-9 blowout loss to #6 Maryland on Saturday in College Park.

Maryland (2-0) led 10-6 after a fast-paced first half, then took control in the third quarter, holding the ‘Hoos to a single goal as the Terps went on a 5-1 run to go into the final stanza up 15-7.

Junior attackers Jenna DiNardo and Madison Alaimo scored back-to-back goals a minute apart to narrow the gap to 16-9 with 8:25 remaining, but those would be the final goals of the game for the Cavaliers.
