Woman dead after being ejected from vehicle in crash on Interstate 81

An Ivanhoe woman is dead after an accident Friday night on Interstate 81 northbound in Wythe County.

Desiree M. Dalton, 46, was ejected from her vehicle and died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred at 11:35 p.m. at the 73-mile marker.

Dalton’s Mazda B-Series truck was heading northbound on I-81 when it went off of the left side of the road, overcorrected, went off of the right side of the road and overturned.

Dalton was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
