LOSER: The Constitution of the United States of America

The McCain peeps are making a big deal about how David Petraeus doesn’t agree with Barack Obama on Iraq timetables.

OK, I’ll bite. Are they trying to say that the president works for the general now, as opposed to it being the other way around?

Because the way it’s supposed to work here in this non-junta of a government that we have is the people tell the soldiers what to do.

It’s great that the most political of generals that we’ve had since MacArthur wants to disagree with his future boss. But guess who won that MacArthur-Truman dustup over Korea?

LOSER: Another bad accident on U.S. 340 north of Waynesboro

I drive this area somewhat often with family nearby, and every time I come upon the intersection of U.S. 340 and Purple Cow Road, I cringe. My mother was in a bad accident there 20 years ago when she stopped for a turning car and was rammed from behind by a car being driven by a teen who wasn’t paying attention to what was up ahead. It’s easier to do than one would think on this stretch of road, where 55-mph speed limits and two lanes of roadway meet up with blind curves and busy turns.

TODAY’S HOT OR NOT: Bob Stuart is a-bloggin’

Bob and I have known each other since our days together in the newsroom at the NV. Bob always had a bit of blogger in him, and now he’s getting a chance to show it a little bit.

The Valley Politico is far from his best stuff, though. Not that he’d ever show it, but Bob has some Kornheiser and Barry to share that could liven up the local blogosphere, if not the editorial pages at the NV.

But this is all we have for now. It’s good to have somebody else to argue politics with.
