wm-logoA trio of William and Mary football standouts have been selected to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team, as linebacker Luke Rhodes (first team), defensive back DeAndre Houston-Carson (second team) and center Andrew Jones (third team) all garnered distinction.

One of the nation’s elite defensive players, Rhodes is a two-time first-team all-conference selection and a three-time all-league honoree. During the past two seasons, the Hollidaysburg, Pa., native has totaled 191 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 15 PBU.

An outstanding leader, Rhodes is a two-time team captain, which makes him just the 11th player to earn the honor multiple times in the program’s 122-year history.

Having established himself as one of the country’s top defensive backs during the past few seasons, Houston-Carson is a two-time all-conference selection and a three-year starter. Although he suffered a season-ending injury during Week 9 last fall, he ranked tied for second in the Colonial Athletic Association in interceptions (three) and tied for sixth in tackles per game among defensive backs (7.4) at the time of his injury. The Woodford, Va., native also excelled on special teams in 2014 and ranked second nationally with four blocked kicks at the time of his injury. Additionally, the team captain has totaled seven blocks during his career.

A three-year starter and team captain, Jones will continue to anchor the Tribe’s talented offensive line this season. The Naples, Fla., garnered first-team All-CAA distinction last fall after helping running back Mikal Abdul-Saboor become the league’s leading rusher despite a number of injuries along the offensive line.
