What’s up with Lebron?

lebronAn “iffy” back. And now his coach is saying that he’s putting together a plan to rest him to keep him fresh for the playoffs. Time to ask the question: something up with Lebron James?

“I’m 29 years old, and I can still fly above the rim,” James said, addressing the other LBJ story from the offseason, his dramatic weight loss. “I don’t need to lose weight to do that, not at this point in my career.”

Probably doesn’t need to get rest to be ready for the playoffs, either, but Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt has paid attention to what San Antonio coach Greg Popovich has done to keep his, you know, ahem, older stars fresh the past few years.

Not a bad idea, that. James has only missed 44 regular-season games total in his first 11 years in the league, and has logged gobs of extra court time in playoffs and international tournaments.

He may be turning 30 in December, but his legs are closer to 35, 36.

Which is why he lost weight, that and the “iffy” back. Rest him up, and win games in June.
