Weather update: Cooling trend, snow showers possible Friday

The warm weather of the past few days is leaving us.

The National Weather Service forecast for the Augusta-Staunton-Waynesboro area has highs in the upper 30s Wednesday and around 40 on Thursday. Snow showers are in the forecast for Thursday night into Friday with lows in the lower 20s. The chance of snow is 40 percent in the overnight hours and on Friday. Highs Friday are forecast to be around 30.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower 30s and wind-chill values as low as zero. Sunday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-30s.
