Weather alters schedule for Virginia basketball this weekend

virginia syracuseDue to expected weather conditions in Charlottesville, the Syracuse at Virginia game, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 23 at noon, has been moved to Sunday, January 24 at 7:00 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for Sunday’s game.

In addition, the Virginia at Wake Forest game, originally scheduled for Monday, January 25 at 9:00 pm, has been moved to Tuesday, January 26 at 7:00 pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The Virginia women’s basketball home game on Sunday (Jan. 24) against Pitt will tip off at its scheduled time of 1 p.m.

The National Girls and Women’s in Sports Day activities and recognition of the 1991 NCAA champion women’s lacrosse team will not take place at this game.

The Virginia-Duke wrestling dual meet scheduled for Friday (Jan. 22) has been postponed to Friday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gym.

The women’s tennis matches involving Virginia, BYU, Columbia, and Maryland will be played Friday (Jan. 22) and Saturday (Jan. 23) at Boar’s Head Sports Club. The men’s and women’s tennis Meet the Team Day, scheduled to be held on Sunday (Jan. 24) at the Boar’s Head Sports Club, has been canceled.

Additional updates regarding transportation, parking and road conditions for Sunday’s game will be posted to VirginiaSports.com and UVA Athletics social media outlets. Local media agencies will also be notified.
