Waynesboro unveils new travel ambassador program

Contributors

The Tourism Association of Greater Waynesboro, in collaboration with the Waynesboro Tourism Office, announced on Tuesday the launch of the Greater Waynesboro Travel Ambassador Program.

The Greater Waynesboro Travel Ambassador Program is an interactive program to educate and inspire front-line employees and volunteers so they may turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience.  And we all know, when visitors have a positive experience, they are more likely to return and tell their friends and family – boosting the local economy, positively impacting the Waynesboro brand and our overall image as an exciting destination.

To become an ambassador, one must fill out the application and complete several requirements.  These requirements range from volunteering at events to serving on tourism related boards as well as attending local attractions, to remain familiar with what each has to offer tourists.  Applications can be obtained from the Waynesboro Office of Tourism, 301 West Main Street, or online at VisitWaynesboro.net.

Ambassadors will benefit from the Greater Waynesboro Travel Ambassador Program because it’s not just training, it’s certification.  Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a volunteer t-shirt and identification as a Waynesboro Travel Ambassador.  An attraction punch card will also be given to all Ambassadors allowing them discounted or free entrance to various establishments/attractions.  In addition, Ambassadors will be invited to an annual luncheon for recognition of outstanding participants, invitation to volunteer field trips and more.
