Waynesboro Schools will host its 4th annual Back to School Bash event on July 21, 2024 and July 28, 2024 at Kate Collins Middle School from 1 to 6 p.m.

The event will allow families to take advantage of a wonderful opportunity to prepare for the
upcoming school year.

“The way our community rallied to support our students last year was truly amazing. I am proud to be a part
of the great work going on in Waynesboro Public Schools. I am looking forward to doing it all again this
year,” Waynesboro Schools Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ryan Barber said.

The 2023 event was a huge success with 1,330 participants, including students, parents and family members, an increase of 178 from 2022. The event was made successful by more than 200 Waynesboro Schools staff, volunteers and community partners.

Additional highlights from the 2023 event were:
● 414 children received haircuts, braids and styles from 17 hairdressers and stylists.
● 60 sports physicals were provided in partnership with Augusta Health & Rockingham Memorial.
● school registration assistance was provided for hundreds of students.
● 271 students received all of their school supplies, thanks to a partnership with United Way of
Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro’s Stuff the Bus Event.
● Approximately 30 community organizations participated in the two weekend events.

The vision of the event is to remove barriers for students and families that make the start of a new school year stressful. At the event, Waynesboro Schools will again have opportunities for students to receive haircuts from local stylists, and healthcare providers will be available to provide school physicals and immunizations. Families will also be able to access forms to request assistance for school supplies, clothing or other medical needs.

Healthy fruits and vegetables will also be available, along with numerous community resources and fun and games for students of all ages.

Kate Collins Middle School is at 1625 Ivy Street in Waynesboro.
