Chris Graham

policeMembers of the Waynesboro Police Department and the Waynesboro Fire Department responded to Kate Collins Middle School for a report of a bomb threat that was communicated to the school.

At approximately noon, a faculty member received an email indicating there was a bomb in a specific part of the school.  Students and staff were evacuated from the building while officers and detectives with the Police Department conducted their investigation.  A Virginia State Police bomb sniffing K-9 team was summoned and did a search of the school finding no explosive devices.  Students and staff re-entered the school at 1:25 P.M.

School administrators and officers identified a male juvenile suspect, who is not a Kate Collins Middle School student, and detained him off campus.  The criminal investigation is still active.
