Waynesboro: One dead, one injured in morning shooting on James Avenue

One person is dead and a second person is injured after an incident this morning in the 400 block of James Avenue in Waynesboro.

According to police, officers responded to a call for the discharge of a weapon at 9:02 a.m.

Capt. Jamie Dunn of the Waynesboro Police Department reports that he is on a security post for the incident as of noon on Tuesday.

“This is still an active investigation, and more details will be released when they become available,” Dunn said.

The Waynesboro Police Department posted a travel advisory on its Facebook page this morning warning residents of the heavy police presence in the area.
