Waynesboro: One dead, one in custody on involuntary manslaughter charge in crash

A Waynesboro woman is dead, and another is in jail on an involuntary manslaughter charge, in connection with a two-vehicle accident on Hopeman Parkway on Tuesday morning.

The crash killed Brittany Jean Comer, 31, of Waynesboro, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Waynesboro Police, two young children involved in the collision sustained serious injuries and were transported to UVA Hospital for medical treatment.

The other vehicle involved was driven by Brianca Elaine Estes, also 31 years old and from Waynesboro, who had a passenger at the time of the incident.

Estes was transported to Augusta Health with non-life-threatening injuries, while the unidentified passenger was taken to UVA Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Estes is in custody at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.

The Waynesboro Police Department asked anyone witnessed the traffic crash to get in touch with Sgt. M. Holmes at (540) 836-0876.
