Chris Graham

waynesboroA Waynesboro man is dead after ingesting a bag with a white, powdery substance during a Skyline Drug Task Force raid Friday morning.

William Tucker, 52, lost consciousness after ingesting the substance, then refused attempts from law enforcement to assist him when the bag lodged in his throat.

A Waynesboro Police detective administered CPR and was able to help Tucker regain a pulse, but he died en route to Augusta Health.

Police are saying that the early indication is that the substance in the bag appears to have been cocaine.

The drug task force was executing a search warrant at a residence on North Augusta Avenue in Waynesboro shortly after 9 a.m. Friday morning.

An adult female and two children were safely removed from the residence.
