generals-new logo2Vince Braman gave up a run in eight solid innings of work, and Waynesboro tagged Charlottesville starter Jack Roberts for five runs in an inning and a third in what turned out to be a 7-2 Generals win on July 4.

Braman (1-1, 4.15 ERA) allowed seven hits and walked four, but Charlottesville got to Braman just once, on a solo homer by Cris Perez in the fourth, stranding nine against the Generals starter on the day.

Roberts (0-1, 19.29 ERA) gave up five runs on three hits and three walks in an inning and a third. Waynesboro scored three in the first inning – on a sacrifice by Jeremy Taylor, an RBI single by Kevin Phillips and an RBI single by Jonathan Camp – and getting two in the second on an error and an RBI groundout by Taylor.

Taylor and Michael Brosseau delivered RBI singles in the fourth to make it 7-0 Waynesboro. Perez answered in the bottom of the fourth with his solo homer to cut the margin to 7-1.

And that was it until the bottom of the ninth, when a two-out RBI single by Seth Lancaster added to the Tom Sox total.

Waynesboro (10-13) now sits in fourth place in the South Division, seven games back of first-place Harrisonburg.

All that work that we did to put an ever-so-slightly left-of-center majority on the Waynesboro City Council over the past two election cycles, and the reward for us is: they’re still letting the MAGA do-nothings run the city.
