Washington Redskins top St. Louis Rams, 24-10

redskins-helmet1Matt Jones ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Washington Redskins to a 24-10 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday at FedEx Field.

Jones, a rookie, scored on a 39-yard run with 7:05 left in the first quarter as the Redskins (1-1) built a 17-0 halftime lead.

The Rams (1-1) closed to 17-10 after a Greg Zuerlein 52-yard field goal and a Kenny Britt 40-yard TD pass from Nick Foles in the third quarter.

Jones capped a 12-play, 77-yard fourth-quarter drive with a 3-yard TD with 2:38 to go to put the game out of reach.

Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins had a solid day, going 23-for-27 passing for 203 yards and a touchdown.

Alfred Morris ran 18 times for 59 yards for the Redskins, who gained 373 yards and held the Rams to 213 yards.
