Kennedy Chad BaxterThe Waynesboro Police Department arrested a Waynesboro man who had been wanted since last month on drug, weapon and traffic offenses stemming from a car crash he caused at which he opted not to wait around.

Chad Baxter Kennedy, 30 years old, faces multiple charges and had been on run for over two weeks when officers caught up with him at a family member’s house Thursday afternoon.

On November 24, 2015 at approximately 4:35 PM, officers responded to the intersection of North Delphine Avenue and 4th Street for a three vehicle crash.  As officers were responding, they received word that one of the drivers had fled on foot.  When officers arrived, they interviewed witnesses at the scene who identified the fleeing driver as Kennedy.  A check of his driving status indicated he had a suspended license.  During the search of his abandoned Buick LeSabre, the officers found methamphetamine, marijuana, a rifle, syringes and other drug paraphernalia.  Officers were unable to locate Kennedy nearby.

He was found Thursday at 3 p.m. at the home in the 2000 block of Forest Drive.

Kennedy faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule I or II drug (f)
  • Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Schedule I or II drug (f)
  • Possession of Marijuana (m)
  • Reckless Driving (m)
  • Driving on a Suspended License (m)

He is being held on bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
