Virginia women earn No. 9 seed in ACC Tournament

accThe Virginia women’s basketball team (16-14, 6-10 ACC) will be the No. 9 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament which is being held from Wednesday, March 2 through Sunday, March 6 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.

As the No. 9 seed, Virginia earned a first-round bye and will face eighth-seeded Duke (19-11, 8-8 ACC) on Thursday, March 3 at 2 p.m. in a second-round match-up. The winner of that game will advance to play top-seeded Notre Dame on Friday, March 4 at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

All 14 games of this year’s tournament will be televised. The first, second and quarterfinal rounds will be carried by the league’s regional sports networks. Both Saturday semifinal games will be carried nationally by ESPNU, while a national audience will also watch Sunday’s championship game via ESPN. In addition, all games will be available via ESPN3 and WatchESPN.

Greensboro Coliseum will play host to the ACC Women’s Tournament for the 17th consecutive year.

  • Game No. 1 – Seed No. 12 Pitt vs. Seed No. 13 North Carolina, 1 p.m. (RSN)
  • Game No. 2 – Seed No. 10 Wake Forest vs. Seed No. 15 Clemson, 3:30 p.m. (RSN)
  • Game No. 3 – Seed No. 11 Virginia Tech vs. Seed No. 14 Boston College, 6:30 p.m. (RSN)

Thursday, March 3
