Virginia teen dead in single-vehicle crash in Bedford County

A 17-year-old teen from Forest is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Bellevue Road in Bedford County on Friday night.

William Edward Bettenhausen died Sunday due to injuries sustained in the crash at Lynchburg General Hospital, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred Friday at 10:10 p.m., one tenth of a mile north of Route 221.

Bettenhausen’s 2017 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north when he lost control and ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a fence and a tree.

The crash remains under investigation.
