Virginia Tech approves $800K for AC for indoor football practice facility

The Virginia Tech indoor football practice facility, built in 2015, didn’t come with something that would seem to be a basic necessity: air conditioning.

That is unfathomable.

That it took James Franklin to tell them to get on the damn ball is similarly head-scratching.

The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors voted on Thursday to approve $800,000 to install AC and also add insulation to meet current energy code requirements.

Technically, the indoor facility is also open to the soccer, softball, baseball and lacrosse programs, but, come on.

The folks down there, for years, told the likes of Justin Fuente and Brent Pry that they needed to be able to do more with less, and when they pressed, they were told, Frank Beamer didn’t need whatever it was they were asking for.

Like, you know, AC.
