Virginia State Police respond to charter bus fire on Interstate 81: No injuries

policecar3At 3:27 a.m., Wednesday (June 3), Virginia State Police responded to a charter bus fire alongside I-81 near the 234 mile marker in Augusta County.

When the driver of a charter bus detected problems with the bus, he immediately pulled off onto the shoulder of the northbound lanes. The driver was the only one on board the bus at the time. He was able to exit the bus without injury as the fire spread through the bus.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
