Virginia State Police: One dead in small plane crash in Albemarle County

A flight originating in Rockingham, N.C., crashed in a wooded area off Monacan Drive East in Albemarle County on Saturday, with one fatality.

Virginia State Police is in charge of the investigation, and is in the process of notifying next of kin.

The crash was reported at 12:51 p.m. on Saturday, according to VSP.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified.
