Virginia State Police investigating fatal crash in Fluvanna County

policeVirginia State Police Trooper G.R. Watkins is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Fluvanna County. The crash occurred at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday (Dec. 1), on Route 600, approximately one mile south of Route 618.

A 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling north on Route 600 when it ran off the right side of the road. Its driver, Nichole J. Workman, 21, of Palmyra, Va., overcorrected the car causing it to cross back onto the road, cross the centerline and strike a 2008 Kia Rio. The Kia was traveling south on Route 600.

Workman died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Kia, Charles E. Brady, 39, of Palmyra, Va., was transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
