Virginia State Police: Halifax County man partially ejected, dead in fatal crash

A 47-year-old man was killed in an accident Thursday evening in Mecklenburg County, according to Virginia State Police.

Michael T. Finch, 47, of the Town of Virgilina in Halifax County, died at the scene.

According to VSP, the fatal accident happened on U.S. 58 just before 5 p.m.

His GMC Sierra was traveling westbound when it went off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned. The crash occurred near Sandy Fork Road.

Finch was partially ejected; he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The incident remains under investigation.
