A temporary detour has been set up in Botetourt County after an accident involving a school bus on Catawba Road.

According to Virginia State Police, a tractor trailer on the wrong side of the road forced a bus driver to swerve off the roadway to avoid a head-on collision. The bus overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road bringing down optic and phone lines.

The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. today.

An aide on the bus had non-life threatening injuries. The only student on the bus was not injured. The bus driver was also not injured.

The tractor trailer allegedly fled the scene and has not been located.

The road will be shut down for several hours, according to VSP.
