A Virginia police officer is on the run after allegedly firing multiple times into a vehicle in a domestic incident on Sunday.
Charles Aaron Stokes, 44, of Lunenburg County, dumped his car in North Carolina, and a vehicle was reported stolen from the same location.
Virginia State Police believe Stokes is driving the stolen car, a 2007 Honda Civic with Virginia plates TGL 9143. The vehicle was stolen in Henderson, N.C., according to police.
Stokes is considered armed and dangerous.
The woman in the vehicle was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown. Her name has not been released.
Stokes is a member of the Town of Kenbridge Police Department. He received a 10-year service plaque at an appreciation dinner for town employees last month.
He was off duty at the time of the shooting which occurred at approximately 2:43 p.m. yesterday.
VSP has obtained two felony warrants for Stokes for aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Stokes is described as white, six foot, three inches tall and weighing 230 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair.
