Virginia Beach: Driver in accident overnight flees; two passengers found dead

A one-car accident in Virginia Beach Thursday morning claimed the lives of two men, and the driver responsible initially fled from the scene.

The driver, Adam Cieniewicz, 36, of Virginia Beach, was arrested for felony hit and run later in the day without incident.

According to the Virginia Beach Police Department, the Emergency Communications and Citizen Services received a call at 12:32 a.m. reporting a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Shipps Corner Road and Old Clubhouse Road.

Officers responded and located the vehicle in the tree line along the 2900 block of Shipps Corner Road.

The two passengers, Francisco Bisono IV, male, 32, of Virginia Beach; and Shawn Babonis, male, 49, of Virginia Beach, were found pinned in the vehicle and unresponsive. Both passengers were pronounced deceased on scene, according to the VBPD.

The crash is still being actively investigated, and further charges are anticipated.
