The story introduces readers to the titular character Fiona Fabulous O’Malley, who wanted to be a beauty queen that’s “really” fabulous. She wants to look different from what she is because she is tired of hearing that she is one of a kind. Will she ever be fabulous the way she wants it? Or will she come to realize the she is already fabulous the way she is? Thornton places a timely and universal lesson in this entertaining children’s story.
