Virginia announces last call to log Internet needs

cit logoThe Center for Innovative Technology announced that the last day for citizens to participate in the RUOnlineVA campaign is Friday, August 15th.

Governor McAuliffe announced the RUOnlineVA campaign in May as a key component of the Governor’s overall strategy to increase connectivity throughout the Commonwealth. The initiative will identify where the need for Internet is the greatest and will help guide state-level broadband-related policy and funding discussions.

Citizens who have not already logged their need for Internet service, but would like to do so, should visit the survey site or call the toll free number to answer a few questions regarding their location and Internet need.

RUOnlineVA is led by CIT in partnership with the Center for Geospatial Information Technology (CGIT) and is supported by Governor McAuliffe, Secretary of Technology, Karen Jackson, Virginia Association of Counties (VACO), Virginia Municipal League (VML), Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA), Virginia Planning District Commission (VAPDC), Virginia Rural Center, Virginia Telecommunications Industry Association (VTIA),Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), Department of Education (DOE), Library of Virginia, Mid-Atlantic Broadband Cooperative (MBC), and Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC).

If you are in need of Internet service and would like to log your demand visit RUOnline.virginia.gov. If you are unable to access the website at home you can visit your local library or call toll free (877)969-6685. Results can be viewed at technology.virginia.gov/ru-online-map.
