The following is a list of highway work that might affect traffic in the VDOT Staunton Transportation District during the coming weeks.
The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties: Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. Also, when traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 64

Mile marker 53.3 to 55.3, eastbound and westbound. Eastbound traffic will detour across the median to the westbound side of the interstate. Both directions of traffic will use westbound Maury River bridge for about a year while the eastbound bridge undergoes rehabilitation. Speed limit is 55 miles per hour.

Mile marker 173 to 205, northbound and southbound – Be alert for debris removal, repairing mile marker signs and cleaning paved ditches. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(NEW) Mile marker 322, northbound and southbound – Slow roll closures north of Clearbrook to install overhead utility lines crossing I-81. January 11 at 7:45 a.m. and should require 15 minutes or less to complete. Traffic will be controlled with a northbound slow roll beginning at mile marker 318. The southbound slow roll starts at mile marker 1.0 in West Virginia. Flaggers will control traffic at the Clearbrook northbound on-ramp (exit 321) and at the Hopewell/Flying J southbound on-ramp (exit 323) during the slow roll.

Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) – New traffic pattern with lane shifts on north and south ends of the bridge replacement project over Gooney Creek. Work zone from 0.67 miles south of Route 605 to 0.35 miles north of Route 605.
Route 340/522 (North Shenandoah Avenue/Winchester Road), from Duck Street to 17th Street – Old South Fork bridge replacement and interchange modification at Route 55 (Strasburg Road) and 340/522. Additional lane shift and closure of center turn lane from the south end of the bridge to just past 17th Street and closure of 18th Street to through traffic. Through traffic will detour onto North Royal Avenue and 17th Street. Lane shifts on Route 55 just west of Route 340/522. These changes will be in effect through summer 2015. Estimated bridge completion December 2017.
