The following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.
In observance of the Labor Day holiday, VDOT will lift lane closures and temporary work zones for interstate and roadway projects from noon today until noon Tuesday, Sept. 2. Permanent construction zones with concrete barriers and orange barrels will remain in place.

Albemarle County
Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directionsWednesday and Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion July 2015.
Interstate 64 – Pavement marking eradication and patching from mile marker 116 to the Route 616 (Black Cat Road underpass) Tuesday-Friday, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Alternating lane closures will occur; motorists should obey traffic controls.
Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Pipe replacement between Polo Grounds Road and Ashwood Boulevard. One lane periodically closed on Route 29 northbound. Motorists should reduce speed and follow traffic controls.
Routes 600, 601, 626, 627, 635, 637, 641, 644, 654, 724, 735, 743, 802 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Routes 608, 615, 627, 643, 655, 672, 676, 708 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Routes 674 (Clark Road) – Slope repairs. Road closed Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., two miles east of Route 810 (Browns Gap Turnpike). Motorists should use posted detour route.
Route 688 (Midway Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.
Route 708 (Dry Bridge Road) – Bridge replacement. Road closed with traffic detoured via Route 787 (Gillums Ridge Road). Anticipated completion Sept. 12, 2014.
Culpeper County
Routes 522, 647, 729 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Routes 625, 628, 629, 658, 662 – Pipe replacement. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.
Route 681 (Windsor Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.
Route 715 (Duncan Trail) – Surface treatment from Route 644 (Reva Road) to Route 608 (Oakland Road). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Route 716 (Whippoorwill Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Tuesday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. andWednesday – Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.
Route 751 (Dragoon Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.
Route 752 (Camp Road) – Surface treatment from dead end to Route 645 (Kirtley Trail). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Town of Culpeper
Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. The current traffic pattern will remain in place, with ongoing intermittent lane closures, through Thursday. On Friday, traffic will begin using one lane of the roundabout and the temporary traffic signal will be removed. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.
Fauquier County
Route 15/17/29 (James Madison Highway) – Debris cleanup. Right lane closed from Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Drive) to Route 744 (Lovers Lane) from 9 a.m. to noon. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Route 15/29 (Lee Highway) – Under-drain installation and pothole repair from Route 17 North spur to Route 1405 (Nordix Drive)Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Routes 17, 29, 624 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.
Routes 28, 602, 647, 651, 681, 688, 690, 691, 724, 735, 736, 737, 789 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Routes 610, 651 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Routes 635, 704, 705 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.
Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 2015.
Route 705 – Machining. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.
Fluvanna County
Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion October 2015.
Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2015.
Route 621 (Lantre Lane) – Rural Rustic Road sealing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.
Greene County
Surface treatment on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.
- Route 631 from Route 810 to end of state maintenance
- Route 634 from Route 810 to Route 635
- Route 637 from Route 230 to Route 621
- Route 656 from Route 650 to end of state maintenance
Route 607 – Ditching. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.
Routes 607, 609, 610, 618, 619, 645 – Mowing and trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Louisa County
Interstate 64 – Pavement marking eradication. Alternating lane closures from exit 136 (Zion Crossroads) to Goochland County line Tuesday-Friday, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Routes 613, 624, 693 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Route 618 (Belsches Road) – Roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Madison County
Route 15 (N. James Madison Highway) – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.
Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike/FT Valley Road) – Tree trimming from Rappahannock County line moving southbound to Madison town limits. Flagging will occur. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Delays of 5-10 minutes are possible.
Route 665 (Garth Run Road) – Surface treatment from end of state maintenance to Route 718 (Wallace Gap Lane). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.
Orange County
Routes 15, 20, 665, 711 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Rappahannock County
Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Mowing from Washington to Amissville. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Route 615 (Castleton Ford Road) – Shoulder repairs, ditching and machining. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Route 626 (Tiger Valley Road) – Replacement of bridge over the Rush River. Road closed Aug. 7 through Sept. 18. Motorists should use the posted detour route: Route 211 (Lee Highway) to Route 622 (Rock Mills Road) to Route 621 (Hunters Road) and back to Route 626.
