UVA women’s basketball seeded ninth in ACC Tournament

uva womens basketballThe UVA women’s basketball team (17-12, 7-9 ACC) will be the No. 9 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament which runs from this Wednesday (March 4) through Sunday(March 8).

As the No. 9 seed, Virginia earned a first-round bye and will face eighth-seeded Miami on Thursday, March 5 at 2 p.m. in a second-round match-up. The winner of that game will advance to play top-seeded Notre Dame on Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

All 14 games of this year’s tournament will be televised. The first, second and quarterfinal rounds will be carried by the league’s regional sports network, RSN. Both Saturday semifinal games will be carried nationally by ESPNU, while a national audience will also watch Sunday’s championship game via ESPN. In addition, all game will be available via ESPN3 and WatchESPN. All of the Virginia games will also be broadcast on the radio on WINA-1070 AM with Jay James calling the action.

Virginia finished in a tie for ninth place in the conference rankings with NC State and Georgia Tech and won the three-way tiebreaker by virtue of Sunday’s victory over third-place Louisville. NC State will be seeded 10th while Georgia Tech is the No. 11 seed.

The Greensboro Coliseum will play host to the ACC Women’s Tournament for the 16th consecutive year.

  • Game No. 3 – Seed No. 11 Georgia Tech vs. Seed No. 14 Clemson, 6:30 p.m. (RSN)
