UVA women’s basketball adds Katharine Graham to coaching staff

virginia basketballUVA women’s basketball head coach Joanne Boyle announced the hiring of Katherine Graham as an assistant coach.

Graham previously served as an assistant coach at Lipscomb during the 2014-15 season before spending last year as in the same position at Western Kentucky. Graham was a four-year letterwinner and a three-year starter at LSU, reaching the Final Four in 2008. She was the 25th player in program history to finish with 500 career rebounds (513) while also finishing her career with 295 assists and 713 points. Graham was named to the SEC Coaches All-Defensive Team her senior season. Following her collegiate playing career, she spent one season playing professional basketball in Iceland before heading to Georgia, where she spent two seasons as a graduate assistant.

“I am so grateful to be able to announce the hiring of Katherine Graham as a member of our UVA coaching staff,” Boyle said.  “Katherine brings a vibrant, youthful energy and has been tagged as one of the best up-and-coming coaches in the business. Katherine has played and coached under some of the most-prominent coaches in our field and brings a skill set that includes the passion to mentor, a knowledge of the game and the ability to recruit exceptional student-athletes.  She has playing experience at the highest level, including an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2008, and has also played professionally in Europe. I am confident that Katherine will be a vital part of our success in the future and I cannot wait to have her here in Charlottesville.”

Graham earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports administration from Louisiana State University in 2011 and a Masters of Science in sports administration from the University of Georgia in 2014.
