UVA tennis All-American Julia Elbaba posts win in pro event

uva-logo-new2UVA women’s tennis All-American Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) recorded an impressive win in the opening round of a United States Tennis Association Pro Circuit event Wednesday (Aug. 6).

Elbaba defeated Ukraine’s Kateryna Kozlova 6-4, 7-5 in the first round of the main draw at the $25K Koser Jewelers Tennis Challenge in Landisville, Pa. Kozlova is ranked No. 137 in the latest World Tennis Association rankings. Elbaba plays Alexandra Mueller of the United States in the second round.
