The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced the women’s basketball league opponents for all 15 institutions for the 2014-15 season. Thehome slate for UVa. includes contests at John Paul Jones Arena against Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, NC State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Virginia will face each of the 14 conference opponents during the 16-game league schedule. The Cavaliers will play six opponents solely at home, six only on the road and two opponents, Virginia Tech and ACC-newcomer Louisville, in home-and-away series.
Virginia will only face Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse on the road during the 2014-15 season.
“The ACC is such a strong league from top to bottom, it’s hard not to get excited just looking at that list of opponents” Virginia head coach Joanne Boyle said. “There are going to be some fantastic match-ups played at John Paul Jones Arena next year. We cannot wait to face these challenges with the support of our home fans behind us.”
Virginia’s entire 2014-15 women’s basketball schedule will be released at a later date.
Virginia returns seven letterwinners next season, including the 2014 ACC Sixth Player of the Year, Faith Randolph, from last year’s team that advanced to the second round of the ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers also have a recruiting class ranked in the top 15 nationally that includes Aliyah Huland El (Randolph, N.J./Randolph High School), Lauren Moses (Mount Holly, N.J./ Rancocas Valley HS) and Mikayla Venson (Arlington, Va./Yorktown HS).
